A CSV or a comma-separated values file that looks like a garden-variety spreadsheet but with a csv extension. It is a plain text file that is easier to generate or create through an application.
As it is plain text, CSV files are easier to import into a spreadsheet or any other database and allow data to be saved in a tabular format.
CSV files can be used with almost all spreadsheet programs including Microsoft Excel, Libre Office, WPS Spreadsheet or Google Spreadsheets.
However, unlike other spreadsheets, you can only have a single sheet in a CSV file and can not save cells, columns, or rows or formulas.
On ShopOnCloud, you can use a CSV (comma-separated values) file to import products, order summary, and order details. You can also use CSV files to export SMS into your store.

You can use several apps to open CSV files. To view them across applications your CSV files must use UTF-8 encoding. Remember to confirm the UTF-8 encoding to avoid generating unwanted special characters in your file when importing.
While CSV files may look intimidating and confusing, each entry represents a cell in a spreadsheet, each line represents a new row, and each comma indicates where one entry ends and another one begins.
